Either the system audio settings or the program you are using seem to have the demo source set wrong for what you are trying to do. Make sure that the recording source is set to mic and is un-muted. You may want to look under advanced settings for the volume controls.



If you are doing anything more than basically basic tape, like editing or multi-track video recording I suggest checking out Audacity, an open source recording/editing program.
