Does a Celeron D processor work withouth the 12v front?

I simply got a alien motherboard and a Celeron D processor. The motherboard has the standard power supply port as economically as an additional 12v head. Do I need to own this plugged in to use my mobo or processor?

if it's on the motherboard after it is required 9x outta 10, usually only when a motherboard is to the rear compatible will it not really need the power supply. But it won't hurt to try it minus the power, if it doesn't boot up then you know it requests to have more power supplied.
No, the 12V front is specifically for the CPU, so you will definately need it to run the processor.
