DDR2 have a faster data rate, faster bus frequency, it uses smaller amount voltage, it's prefetch size is 4 bits instead of 2bits that regular DDR has. It's adjectives around faster.
i think ddr2 is dual pipe which means more notes flow which means faster
I use - Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 PRO TwinX (2x1GB) its faster and more reliable, but you must check to see if your Motherboard will support DDR2
